Once considered to be the Holy Grail of CCTV, automatic number plate recognition of vehicles, or ANPR, is now simple to achieve with commercially-available equipment.An aligned assembly of high-resolution mono camera, with matched lens, and focussed infra red lighting, can achieve accurate number plate capture, even in hostile lighting and weather conditions.

In its simplest form, an ANPR camera on your CCTV system can accurately record the vehicles entering or leaving your site, and provide an analogue or digital video record.

Infra Red Lighting/White Lighting

Infrared lamps emit light in the infrared spectrum. The higher the cut-off wavelength the less visible the light is to the human eye. IRLamps are available in different wavelengths. Whilst operating, the lower frequency illuminators (e.g. 715nM and 730nM) will give off a faint red glow. Higher frequency shorter wavelength units (e.g. 850nM or 940nM) are almost totally discreet.

If a customer is concerned about the running costs of a system incorporating IR lighting LED lamps offer significantly lower power consumption, and the lifetime of bulbs are much longer.
